Understanding Dynamic vs. Static
Dynamic QR Codes (Recommended)
Hosted on our edge network. The destination can be changed at any time without having to reprint the physical code. They fully support advanced tracking and geographic analytics.
Static QR Codes
Encode the data directly into the pixel pattern. They cannot be changed once printed and do not support analytics, but they work forever without requiring any active subscription.
Testing Before Printing!
Always test your newly generated QR codes with multiple devices (both iOS and Android native camera apps) before sending them to the printer. Ensure the contrast between the dark pixels and the light background is high enough for older scanners to read instantly.
Frequently Asked Questions
A Dynamic QR code contains a short URL that redirects the user to the destination. Because the QR code only holds the short URL, you can change the destination at any time without having to reprint the physical QR code.
A Static QR code encodes your data (like a website URL, WiFi password, or text) directly into the black and white pixel pattern. It cannot be changed after it is generated and does not support scan analytics.
Log in to your dashboard, click "Create QR Code" in the top right, select the type of code you want to make, enter your destination link or data, and then click "Generate". You can then customize its appearance.
No! As long as you maintain an active subscription, your dynamic QR codes will never expire and will continue to redirect users forever.
Static QR codes never expire. They will work indefinitely, completely free of charge, even if you do not have an active subscription with us.
Free accounts can create up to 5 dynamic QR codes and unlimited static codes. Pro and Enterprise accounts can create unlimited dynamic and static codes.
Yes, if it is a Dynamic QR code. Just go to your dashboard, click on the code, and edit the destination URL. The physical printed code will immediately redirect to the new link.
Common reasons include: low contrast (e.g., dark background with dark pixels), the code is printed too small (minimum 2x2 cm), or the URL is too long for a static code, making the pattern too dense.
For standard scanning distances (holding a phone about 1 foot away), the QR code should be at least 2x2 centimeters (0.8x0.8 inches).

A vCard QR code is a digital business card. When scanned, it prompts the user's phone to save your contact information directly into their address book.
Yes. In the dashboard, you can toggle a dynamic QR code to "Paused". Users who scan it will see a temporary holding page until you reactivate it.
